Master's thesis survey about EA Repository with UBS collaboration
Hello everyone,
my name is Francesco Svampa and I am a student of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) and the University of Camerino in Italy. In collaboration with UBS GCOO Business Architecture Unit and Software AG, I am sharing a survey for my master's thesis about maintenance of an Enterprise Architecture Repository called "Best practices for data quality assurance in an enterprise architecture repository - Survey and case study in a large financial company".
The focus of the survey is on which best practices and relationships are crucial for success and how the benefits of a business repository can be enhanced. A particular section of the survey is dedicated to ARIS and the use of its verification tools (reports, macros and semantic checks).
The anonymous survey takes about 10-15 minutes and as a thank you for your participation you will receive a free copy of the study. The only one requirement would be to have familiarity with one Enterprise Architecture repository in your company. ECP service does not start
Hello everyone,
My service ECP_m always stays on start "Starting" and it never does. I tried to look for logs and couldn't find any log related to this service. All of my other services are "Started". Stoping all services and starting them again does not solve the problem.
Anyone knows what's the possible causes for ecp to not start?
Also with reconfigure ecp_m I get the following information:

ARIS rich client and high resolution... do I need to use binoculars?
Hi, dear community members,
high resolution displays became standard. Having a 4k display, these days, is not a reason to brag.
As a consequence: controls and text of your software are displayed as tiny little artifacts on your screen...
So what will you do? You will navigate to your system settings and increase the scaling to 125 or even 150%, and everything is fine again.
Well, almost.
Users noticed, that the installed ARIS rich client will be scaled properly... but the download client will not. Hmm.
So, actually the same version looks differently depending whether I installed it or used the download client.
On this screen, you can see the same version... ARIS 10. How beautiful ;-) but too small.
What is the reason? Well, this is the behavior of the Java runtime environment.
In Java 6, there was a possibility to decide whether a Java driven client application is dpi aware or not, which means, whether it will be scaled or not. This does not work anymore. Pity.
The installed application uses the JRE "in memory", thus it scales correctly.
It is quite easy to change the behavior.
Just navigate to the "javaw.exe" (and, to be sure, to "java.exe" as well) to the JRE you are using, and:
- Right click -> Properties
- Go to Compatibility tab
- Check Override high DPI scaling behavior.
- Choose "System" for "Scaling performed by:"
See this screenshot (sorry, only available in German):
Et voilá. Maybe, in future, this bug in the JRE will be fixed (or at least, insert a flag again, so I, me, myself am able to decide how my application should behave, thank you very much).
But as long as this is not the case, I hope you do know now how to make your download client do scaling again.

Migrating requirements from ARIS to SolMan
I am in a project where they are looking to migrate business requirements (captured as 'Requirement' object and associated with business process via Functional Allocation Diagram) to SAP Solution Manager. I always assumed this cannot be done during ARIS - SolMan synchronisation.
Is there a way to do this?

Error during Upgrade of ARIS from 9.8.SR6 to SR8
Hi
i got an error while upgrading ARIS from v9.8Sr6 to SR8.
I started with upgrading the ARIS Connect Server in our Server (Windows 2008 R2)
While starting the setup file and clicking on Install it started and after a while it throwed an error "Unable to update ARIS AGENT"
when i checked the log files
i got the below error
org.apache.curator.framework.imps.CuratorFrameworkImpl - Background retry gaveup
org.apache.curator.CuratorConnectionLossException :KeeperErrorCode = ConnectionLoss
Do you have any idea on the above error?
How can i proceed with my installation?

Tracking Changes on Process Models
Hello,
Relatively new to ARIS here. I was wondering if there is a way to report on changes after a model has been approved by a user defined attribute. For example, let's say I created a user defined attribute for "Approved" (Yes/No), at the EPC model level, in which I will define and save on a given Last Change Date.
I would like to report on all changes made to the EPC model after the Last Change Date.
Is there a report I could run for this in the front-end? Is there a workflow that could be activated in ARIS that would notify a user when a change is made? I hope this all makes sense. Thank you!

ARIS 10 Download Client Issues
Hi,
I am working with ARIS 10 - ARIS Cloud Enterprise environment.
I am able to access ARIS online through ARIS Connect and ARIS Administration, however I am having issues downloading ARIS Architect/Designer to complete the required setup/configuration.
Basically it does not download. I am asked to download the latest version of Java prior to download but due to company policy I have been told I am unable to update it. Does anyone know if this would be causing the issue? I am running Java Version 8 Update 25.
Also, just to confirm (little new to ARIS), I would be unable to complete the required setup of ARIS (databases, filters, templates etc.) using ARIS Connect and need to have Architect/Designer downloaded to do this?

Linking models
Hi
I am creating an audit process and have a step for escalation. I have created a separate escalation process model and want to link it to the escalation object in the main process. Is this possible? I want it to be relatively interactive so that viewers can click into the step and see the process underneath it. I have a couple of other steps I want to do this for as well but not sure if I need to think differently.

Template not applying when occurrence has specific incoming connection
Hi All,
I'm trying to apply a template to a custom model I've created in ARIS, however I'm running into an issue where the occurrence has a specific incoming connection.
The below is a screenshot after I have applied the template to the entire model.
As you can see, when the occurrence has an "Improvement Potential" with a "Corresponds to" connection to the Technical Term, the Technical Term isn't resized according to the template. Is this something that I need to configure in the template?

Interactive Simulation for EPC's?
Good Morning,
currently i am working on a project on developing clinical pathways and processes with ARIS Architect and Designer. For my presentation I would like to show some of the EPC's in a step by step animation. Is there some kind of function built in to ARIS where i can choose the outcome of every XOR or OR Gateway interactively. At the moment I've only found a way of doing this with the probability of occurrence in a step by step simulation or transforming the EPC's to BPMN Models and then animate them in an external application for the Token animation.

Call Semnatic Check in APG
Hello,
i want to start a semantic check automatically if someone wants to release his process model. I know about the possibility to start it via macro but there is no trigger for "model to be sent in governance process".
Is there a possibility to run a semantic check inside an executable process? It would be much more easier for users, if they don't need to start the semantic check by themself.

Versioning and Comparing Model Revisions
Hello,
Relatively new to ARIS here. Is there a way to create model versions 1 and 2, and then compare the revisions on v2 to v1?
From the comparison is there a way to report on this? I've tried searching the forum...

ARIS Connect - display a matrix model
Hi all,
I've ARIS Connect v.9.8 service release 5, I cannot visualize matrix models on Connect, it appears a message "No model graphic is available for this model type". How can I visualize this model?

ARIS Connect - Process governance workflow
Hi,
in ARIS Connect (v.9.8 SR5), clicking on "Portal"/ "Groups" (or "Processes")/ "Navigation" / and selecting the model desired, I can:
- Share model
- Submitchangerequest and
- Submitdocument for approval.
ARIS Connect process manual, for these three workflows, specifies that:
"This workflows are a part of ARIS Connect. It can be customized, if required. For example, you can change e-mail texts, add notifications, make changes to dialogs, etc. The integration of complex workflows (standard RCM, change management, etc.) requires the ARIS Design Server license or ARIS Connect Server extension pack: Process Governance."
Without this extension pack, can I deactivate the process governance workflow functionalities? How can I disable these buttons, in order to hide them to ARIS Connect viewers?

DBS Import Error
Hi All,
Sitting with a problem. Doing an ARIS upgrade for a client, ARIS 7 to ARIS 9.8.7. The database was backed up from ARIS 7 to a local machine.
Started restoring the database (700Mb<), and due to a network error, the restore stopped.
The following day, when trying to restore the database, an ARIS error occurs, informing me that the database already exists, but obviously I can't see it in ARIS.
The client is using SQL 2008 R2.
Any ideas how to resolve this?

Aris Server Problem
Hi,
We are using Aris 9.8 and we are facing a small problem, we can't access Aris Designer or publisher although when we ping the domain names previously configured we get a live reaction as in everything is connected, and when we access the server remotely we can run the apps from it but when we try the domain name inside the server we can't access them and we get an error as in the connection refused
Can anyone guide us on how to get it to working again?
